Abstract:
“Direct-RF conversion has become a viable alternative for more conventional radio receivers in wireless base-stations, offering unmatched bandwidth and flexibility. In this talk we will explore what drives the requirements for RF ADCs, and how traditional data converter metrics are usually inappropriate. Finally, an example implementations of an RFADC will be shown.”
Bob Verbruggen received the Ms. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2005 and 2010 respectively. During his Ph.D. he worked on high-speed calibrated analog-to-digital converters at the Smart Systems and Energy Technology group of imec. From 2010 to 2014 he worked at imec as a researcher working on analog-to-digital converters for software defined radio systems. In 2014 he joined Xilinx, Dublin, Ireland, to work on high performance RF data converters. From 2017 to 2021 he served on data converters subcommittee of the IEEE International Solid-State Circuits Conference. He is currently a principal member of technical staff at AMD.
