Dr. Ana Claudia Arias, an expert in the field of low-cost printable electronics, joined the UC Berkeley faculty after a career in industry. She uses printers loaded with a variety of high-tech inks to make a new generation of medical devices, from wearables to barely noticeable MRI hardware for kids. Dr. Arias recently talked with IPIRA about her motivations for becoming a scientist and inventor, and the origins of her company, Inkspace Imaging, which is making MRI procedures easier and safer for children.
